Wow, that is interesting... Are you fit enough to do this by bicycle ?
I would take a bridge hammock (so you can hang from smaller trees) and possibly a very light ground cloth, for the few nights where you cannot find trees, hoping that it would not rain these nights (otherwise you would have to work something out with your bike for the tarp).
And +1 on warmshowers. This works well here in Europe.
Are you planning on doing this alone, or with others ?
Can I possibly join ?
Disclaimer : I do not have experience with hammocks on bike trips, only on hikking trips, but this set up I used on a 2 weeks hike and it worked well for the two nights when I did not want to hang. You might want to bring two light pieces of insulation for your lower back and shoulders. That would be less than 100 grams. Otherwise, if you reckon you will be in the treeless parts of the journey in summertime, packed dry grass or ferns is perfect insulation.

I love my hammock but I wouldn't try it on a trip like that: I would want a light weight freestanding tent and a good inflatable pad. It's called the Great Plains region for a reason. If I get caught in the rain at dusk I like my odds of finding a flat piece of ground a lot better than the odds of finding a couple of good trees.
have to lock the front wheel straight though... or at least lock both wheels from rolling... maybe get a dropper seat post too, set it to fully extend for hanging, and drop to ride height after you pack back up
with a bike too, you can open up the end of the top tube to store the pole in

also, pretty sure the two layer Chameleon design can be modified to double as a bivy

I don't think the far pole will fit inside the the bike frame. Then again it collapses to 20" long by 1.375" diameter, so stowing shouldn't be an issue. As for locking the bike wheels: I don't think it is needed, especially if there are 2 guylines on the bike side. I saw no tendency for the bike to roll at all.

Why don’t you just invent the bike that changes into a hammock stand? In Ti.
