    Hello from Costa Rica

I am a retired firefighter, living with my family in the mountains of Costa Rica. While in the Army in 1992 we went to Panama and I learned the value of hammock camping and now I use a Hennessy brand hammock. Our church has been working to help some of the folks here in very remote areas with medical care, the terrain is laborious to say the least. I am hoping to learn a lot from the folks here with more experience on the best ways to set up and also to pack lite. I am also loving the DIY section and trying to apply what I am reading to the supplies available here. Anyway thanks for the add and God bless!

    Take care,
    Jim

Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.

There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.

    Hello, from Florida.

There are a lot of expatriats living there. Seems like a beautiful place to hang. Look in the map section to see if others are nearby and start a group hang. Or, start a group hang with your friends and convert them to hammocks. And send us pics and video.

Have fun with the DIY aspect of hammock camping or even 365 full time hanging. It sure is addictive and a not too expensive habit compared to most others.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Hello from Boston! I was just in CR, for a retreat several hours' drive south of San Jose. We had to take the Pacific coast route because some of the inland roads were washed away. Lots of properties for sale, but nothing that spoke to me. I stayed at La Montana Azul in Los Ángeles de Rivas, so I was a little isolated from real life. I wanted to hang there, but not a ton of trees with a decent diameter. Maybe it was just where we were and the way they landscaped it.
