    Hello from the Netherlands

    Hello everyone,

I haven't seen a lot of Dutch hammockers here. Or Europeans. But here I am! There aren't specific hammock camping spots in The Netherlands unfortunately. And the national forestry camping places are designed for tents (yuck). So finding a spot is very tricky. And wild camping isn't legal here. To make matters worse I live in the north of the country. Known for it's flat and wide open tree'less spaces. So I have to travel to get to a forest.

To try out hammocking I just bought a cheap hammock at first. But I have expanded my gear drastically recently. Some of which has yet to arrive. Because I'm a noob I have bought a lot of stuff twice. First the heavy impractical items, and now the lightest expensive stuff. I hope I'm going to be able to sell some to get some of that money back.

I'm pretty new to hammock camping and camping in general. The first time I tried it, it was great! Not so much at night. I must've slept for 4 hours, being a bit spooked. But like Shug says, eating breakfast from the hammock makes it all worth it. Here are some pictures from that first overnighter.

    Welcome!!
I've seen a few European hammockers but not often, probably due to the fact that most of us are English speaking.

When I was a teenager, in the late 1980s, early 1990s, some family friends came to visit from the Netherlands, advertising business aquaintances of my my step-sister's ex-husband. It was a good time and my mother kept in touch for a while. I'm not sure if she still does. I also have a gaming friend from the USA who's an off-shore welder living in Amsterdam, named Julio.
