Hammock Gear Econ Wide or Normal width

    Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with the Econ topqult from HG with regards to wide or normal width? I just ordered a 30 degree TQ and in wide but I'm not sure if I will need that extra width even if I go to the ground. I'm 5'9 175 and have a maximum width of 47 inches when measured.

I'm 5'11" and 165 lbs. - I've never felt the need for wide quilts. Usually, the people who favor wide quilts are heavy set, big-boned, barrel-chested individuals.

agreed, I ordered a normal width 30° last week, I don't have it yet, but I regretted going wider to err on the side of caution when I bought my UGQ.

My only TQ is a standard width Burrow. I mostly use it for the hammock, with occasional nights on the ground. I have never felt the need to sell it and replace it with a wide version.

I am 6'1", 250 lbs and a 48" chest. I have 5 different top quilts, including 2 HG quilts. All are wide and I wouldn't want anything narrower, especially on the ground. My best guess is you would be fine with the regular width in a hammock, could get by with the regular width on the ground but would probably appreciate the extra width of a wide quilt when on the ground.

If your gonna go to ground, you need the width unless you sleep like the dead.

If you like mummy bags then go for standard. I flop like a fish on a doc at night plus I hate mummy style bags so I always go for wide quilts.

I have a 50” wide TQ and feel like it is plenty. I’m about 5’11” 150lbs. You will probably find 50” to be sufficient if you use it with a GE hammock and UQ.

For me, wide width is too much unused stuff in the hammock. I originally bought a wide thinking I might need it on the ground, and guess what? Never used it on the ground.

The only thing I know about hammocks gear quilts for sure is I ordered one over 10 weeks ago and still haven't heard peep from them.
By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...
