Thats really weird i have used them for years and never had a knot flip. But only with the noose style loop that tightens down.

Very strange. I've hung on mine several nights with no problems whatsoever. I'm currently 225ish. Haven't run into any problems using it on my tarp ridgeline either, and I like a tight RL.

I also use them from time to time to lash or secure various pieces of gear to the outside of my pack with no issues.

Heya TB here's what I got, sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

This first picture shows a "standard" improved SS next to one without the center loop. (It's a little fuzzy, sorry)

Next is one larks-headed to my hammock-end.

These next two show how the attachment is made from the fixed end of my whoopie sling to my hammock.

Works great! The connection has never come loose, no matter how much it is jostled or how many times I climb in and out. I've hung using this set-up several times now. I really don't see how it would be possible for this knot to invert as mentioned above under the kinds of stresses we as hammockers put on it.
