    CC PEMI LOOP

Ill be hiking this route starting this Thursday - and am planning a counter-clockwise course for a 2.5 day journey (its a long ride home ). I plan on staying at the Guyot Shelter for night one. Im hoping for a short hike out to the truck on Saturday morning - can anyone suggest an area to camp on my second night? Is Liberty Springs the only (legal) game in town in that area? Is this site prone to filling up? Id be there on a Friday night - I don't want to get stuck having to hike out to the truck in the dark.

Any help would be much appreciated - Thanks again!

    Joe

I have not hiked the Osseo trail after Mt. Flume, but I do know from experience that Liberty Springs is a reliable water source after Mt Garfield and the Franconia Ridgeline, and a great place to hang a hammock, after the ridge line. The platforms fill up rather quickly, but there is plenty of room for creative hammockers, especially towards the back. Have Fun!

Keep in mind that you can dispersed camp in most areas in the whites as long as you are .25 miles away from a campground/shelter, and 200 yards away from the water and trail. I haven't had any issue finding a good spot by looking at a topo map for a flatish spot.

Ill keep that in mind. The topo in that area looks pretty steep in spots; though there is that section hat looks like a good candidate on the south side of Flume - I guess I may have to hope for some good trees

It was a good trip - stayed at Guyot the 1st night; with the impending rain/storms for the third day I decided to push through back to the truck instead of finding a spot around liberty for the second night. That section from South Twin to Garfield is a beast!
