    I agree with the 6x6's. That's what I used. I think that 12ft apart is a good distance. I went with 15ft because I use a Ridge Runner as well.
    ps If you do use 4x4, be safe and have some top rail support like Danimal9.

    That looks so nice though! I would like to do this but would probably get a 2x6x16 to space it out more. And growing some type of vine on that would be pretty cool!

    great idea....wonder if setting the 4x's at a slight angle out instead of vertical would be of some use?

    Just did this as well.. I had a bunch of white pines in the back end of my property that finally died as a result of Hurricane Sandy years ago... I did 6x6 at 15'
    Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

    I also agree with the 6x6's, but it is not something so strict, so we can't claim that it is the only option.
