Argon 90 sagging after 23 days use

Hello all, I've been hanging since 2011 in numerous DIY hammocks and recently have been using my 11' Argon 90 coyote brown from Dutch and I love the feel of the fabric. After @ 3 weeks of every night use it seems that I 'sink' down more into the fabric and have developed a kind of body squeeze. The last 2 nights have been very uncomfortable and this morning I woke up with a knot in my right shoulder. Since all else is the same with my hang I'm thinking this excess material sag is the culprit. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Is there a slightly stiffer material (but with the feel of the A-90) that you would recommend. Where does A-90 fall in the categorizing of these hammock materials? Thanks for the help.

You're using Argon 90 for a hammock? It's certainly not marketed as such. There was some experimentation back in 2014, but that went pretty much nowhere.

Without having any Argon 90 myself, I can only give you limited info.

Hammocks made with nylon or other non-multidirectional threads in 1.0 weight were used for ultalight hammock materials. These materials didn't stand the test of time and were stopped unless used as one side of a double lined hammock.

Other than that, Argon 90 has been used for the outside of quilts with lighter material for inside. The 90 is a little stronger and doesn't snag as easy as the lighter stuff. Putting body weight into it would seem like it would stretch it out causing your problems.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Not sure how you came to build a hammoxk from Argon 90, that Argon was never intended as a hammock fabric. There is an argon intended hammocks, but not the 90.

I woyld re-purpose the hammock or maybe add another layer of appropriate fabric.

Argon 1.6 was designed specially for hammocks. Argon 90 was designed to make quilts. There may be the the problem.

Thank you all for the quick replies. IIRC i built this hammock @ 2014 after making my daughter one. Didn't know it wasn't ment for hammocks- it sure has a nice hand and was quite comfortable, I weigh @158 and sleep head right/ feet left and have slept multiple times for 2-3 days and never had this sag issue before.? So A-90 is a 1.0- 1.1 weight material? right? Most of my other hammocks are 1.6 wt. I will have to see if I can locate some A-1.6/ 1.7.

I'm guessing Argon 90 is .9 per square yard.

    Dutch sells Argon 1.6 here.

There are a few cases of Argon 90 and even 67 being used for hammocks but they are single use only by adventure racers. It is too light for long term use. Sure does feel good for single use though. I would suggest Hexon 1.0 for a very light weight hammock if you are under the 200 pound weight limit.

I don't know how I missed this thread but thank you SS for linking it. The only failure noted was a split from side to side with the cause being either a set of keys hanging from a belt loop or a left open pocket knife in the hammock. Not the fabrics fault. JFYI- I sewed (triple stitched) channels on my A-90 without any failure of the channel- I ran 8" CL through the channels.
