Flew down to HangCon this past January from Buffalo to Orlando, then an hour and a half drive north to Ocala. Fantastic trip, definitely worth the time

Drive South to LWRSF. Don't know the mileage but was a little over 2.5 hours drive. Yep, only have hung in FL.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
For several years we'd make the drive from College Station, Tx to Kyle's Landing campground on the Buffalo River in Arkansas for the Arkansas Hang. It's just shy of 580 miles each way. That was about 10 hours each way.
I'm pretty much a light weight though compared to some.
We've had some travelers make a pretty good trek to our Texas Fall hang each year. One of my favorite times of the year is when we get to hang out with our friends from MI and OH. They are logging over 1100 miles each way.
We've had folks from AZ as well as NC too, also over 1000 miles each way.

Well then, after you get your purchases taken care of, you will have some time to learn your new gear and then come down to Florida for your longest trip.
Come down to HangCon 2019 and you can see a whole lot of other gear and maybe even meet up with some of your neighbors that come down.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
Texas to Florida was my first 900+ mile trip to my first group hang. HangCon18 was a great time. looking forward to the next one!
I like to go to Minnesota in January for a cold hang... 'bout 1200 miles there, 'nother 1200 miles back.
Well worth it!
