Oh and I wish I didn’t. You should have seen Olongapo after they paved the main streets. As a young lad in 1977 it was like going to Disney land. Just reminiscing makes me want a hot San Miguel with ice. Or I could settle for some PJ.

I was there in 78-79 eating BBQ on a stick headed back to the base by midnight just like everyone else!

Monkey Meat! Slugger then we definitely have some stories to swap. There was many a night I didn’t make it back to the boat by midnight. Lucky there was never a shortage of “hotels” in Olongapo.

Cheap hotels with a cold San Miguel waiting for you the next morning!

I was there in (Sept/Oct) '72 just as martial law came in to being. Marcos was in power, and his wife had shoes.
PC (Philippine Constabulary), walking the streets, had automatic weapons. You were NOT on the street after midnight.
Reports were that they shot first, then asked. My local friends would not even use his name in conversations. They had family locked up for nothing. Scary times.
    "Isa pa ng San Miguel"

Remember feeding baby ducks to the alligator on the street?
I ate a lot of Monkey Meat.

I used to pick up a mango at the fruit stand on the left side of the gate entrance. I would eat it going back to the ship.
    I collect vintage camp stoves.
    I roast coffee at home.

It looks like a few of us have walked on the same dirt in another part of the world...aught to be good conversation around the campfire! But....we'll have to curtail parts of the conversation until the ladies have gone to bed!

No comments on the technical preparation of this juice ? ....makes one wonder what how it is made....maybe it is a secret family recipe....
