    Stand help?

I am thinking of buying a stand.

What size should I get, I have both 10ft and 11ft hammocks.

I am seeing mostly 9 and 10 ft stands, will my hammocks for or be too long, giving too much sag?

I know i could probably diy it but I wouldn't have a place to store it so it has to be something I can pack up and bring inside when not in use.

The Meck family used to sell Meck hammock stands. They discontinued their hammock business to pursue medical career. You might find a used Meck hammock stand for sale, here on Hammock Forums

Tato made or makes stands, CoffeeGirl has one of those, and she uses it from time to time.

Latherdome has a new stand—-Tensahedron hammock stand.

Someone made a single pole (for each end) stand called Tensegrity or tensehedron hammock stand

I know I’ve misspelled at least some of these, as well as some trail names——oops I’m sorry, just trying to help.
And somewhere there is a video of a one pole setup on one end and a tree on other end. A strong anchor point is needed on pole side of this daring and imaginative rig.

A TD stand broken down does not take up much space. Mine is in a DIY bag standing in the corner of the garage. 6.5 ft tall. Stored horizontally, it takes up less than a foot in width.

you can DIY a turtledog easily, and cheaply

the metal stands are typically meant for 9 foot hammocks, once you get the 15 foot metal stands, they get expensive fast.

the tensahedron (diy) or tensa4 (commercial version) is probably the most easily mobile stand

All of the Meck family was involved in their hammock business. Mom Meck and oldest son David made the hammocks. David's wife Beth is a doctor and got a job several hundred miles away so they had to move. Dad Meck and youngest son Jason made the stands. Jason got a job dealing with house designs and move out of area.

I have a TD stand and I like it. It was very cost effective. With the tripod legs and the ridge pole it is not very compact when storing. If I were looking at buying a stand I would look hard at the Tensa4. Looks great for easy transport/ storage.

How portable do you want it to be? I'm not aware of anything that would work well for backpacking, but the Tensa 4 seems promising for car camping (just got mine, haven't actually hung in it yet). OTOH there are several ways you can DIY a tensahedron stand - just won't be as conveniently portable without a lot of work. I made one from electrical conduit tube, paracord, amsteel, and a few little S hooks. Others have used hinges and 2x4s. Bit of a pain to move around without a roof rack, but much cheaper.

    Stand help?

    See Shug’s YouTube video
Hanging from one tree with NoGround Hiking Pole

Shug said, if you get two poles, no tree needed

    See Survival Tracker’s YouTube video
    The single tree hammock setup

    See Paul Tomlin’s YouTube video
Half a tensahedron stand and a tree
Paul’s Hammock Forums name is GadgetUK437
He also has setup complete tensahedron stands.

    Have fun out there!

Basically what I am working with is a parking lot. I have no good poles, no trees or fences. I am hoping really to just find a stand I can take down and set up behind the apartment building just so I have a place to hang. I would have to pack it up and down steps and store it in my living room or bed room(small apartment) when not in use. I will take some pics when I go back out and see if anyone has any suggestions on where might be a do able place to hang. There are a couple of little yellow poles in front of the storage buildings on the property...like the ones in the pic I will attach but they are on the sidewalk that is literally the center of the apartments. They are maybe 4.5 ft tall and coated in a smooth plastic so I dont know that using one would do me any good. Wish we lived at the property in the pic, the edges are tree lined. Lol
