    Best cheap bug net?

I was looking to get a cheap bug net for an 11' Dutchware netless. I'm actually planning to get one of his "summer sleeves", but they're out of stock and I've got a week of scout camp with my son's troop coming up soon. So, just want to get something to get me through that without spending and arm and a leg. There are lots of them on Amazon and eBay for $18-30, and I'm sure most come out of the same Indonesian or Chinese factory. Has anyone bought any of these and been pleasantly surprised?

Just to get by for a week either a headnet or a couple of yards of Thule to get by. The wedding favor material stuff is cheap. Whip stitch it, safety pins or cloths pins.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

I grabbed one of a similar price and description for a loaner rig last week... perfectly acceptable according to my buddy. He didn't get "bugged" at all, and didn't find it a hassle either.

    CVKealey,
I haven't checked prices, but use old SHEAR drapes, I think they're called.
Mine are white so plan to dye them to match the next hammock.
    They work fine.

Also check fabric stores. It's usually cheap unless hunting camo.

I'm not too keen on spending money on cheap stuff. I'd personally reconsider whether the summer sock is what you need. A Fronkey style bugnet is probably going to work out just fine, unless you are trying to supplement a skimpy tarp with quilt protection.

You might also look at Buttinasling - they've been selling a bottom-entry bugnet even longer than Dutch.

+1 on the summer sock from Dutch. I was hammocking early spring and it got chilly out so by rotating the sock, it gave me a few degrees of warmth

The price looks right on those, but I'm not sure they'll fit an 11' hammock.

Peeked at Amazon. Sounds like that one is a few inches short for an 11' hammock but there was another on the page that looks plenty long and under $20. On the other hand, you just might want to have a truly good bug net anyway. A Fronkey or the zippered one from Warbonnet would be a wise choice.

True...for now, I ordered one of Dutch's bottom-entry nets (I swear that they were listed as "out of stock" yesterday). I kind of liked the Summer sock for the little extra protection for my underquilt and the ability to flip it around to control airflow & ventilation. However, that probably won't be an issue until Fall, so I'll worry about it then.

If I can convince my son to give hammock camping a try, I'll get a cheapie from Amazon for him (his hammock is only a 10-footer, but he's also 12 and a foot shorter than me).
