I use DYI pythons on my hammocks so the bug net is pre-deployed and kept safe from getting snagged while in storage/transit. Python is then kept in a stuff sack along with stakes and straps. Others put their snake skins/pythons directly into their pack though.

If I know that bugs won’t be a problem, I might take it off before leaving but that window is very small and iffy in Florida so I usually bring it no matter what and make the decision to take it off once in camp.

I'm thinking there is probably enough room in the stuff sack that came with my 11' Dutch hammock (assuming I pack the tree huggers separately), and it seems like it'd save some setup time.
I leave the bugnet on when I stuff the hammock into my double ended bag. No issues at all. This is with a Freebird and a Dutch Summer Sock.

Good choice. I leave my Dutch bugnet on my Dutch 11ft hammock all summer.

I find that the fronkey style bottom entry bugnet is cooler in the summer than my integrated bugnet hammock. That extra bugnet 'bulk' you mention allows for better ventilation/heat distribution - worth the pack space.

I have a 12 foot, extra wide hammock so I needed something that would fit over it and not constrict how I lay. https://www.amazon.com/KING-OUTFITTE...ammock+bug+net

This has served me well in that regard. The quality is good, the price is right and it's really big.
