Sorry Karla, I just now seen your question. I had their homemade blueberry pie warmed up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Geez, I'm drooling at the mouth now just thinking about it.

Fantastic trip report--very entertaining read, and great details! Looks like you found a great section of the BW for a solo. Where, oh where, though, did you find the PB Pop-Tarts?!

I love the BWCA, and I love your writing!

The good-natured humor mixed with the serious introspection that often takes place in the wilderness was fantastic. How cool is it, also, to be used by God to bless someone else, even when you're on vacation!

The only part I take exception to is letting go of eating-sized walleye! Like you, I enjoy the smallmouth and get annoyed by the pike (unless they're the only bites), but it's those sweet bites of walleye that I crave!

Thanks for such a great trip report! I too am a fan of the coffee and PB pop-tart breakfast.
I also learned from paddling with the Canadians in Algonquin that portages and kayaks don't mix.
Last trip had a 2.5km portage and that killed me even with a 24lb canoe.
BWCA is on my bucket list if I can ever tear myself away from Algonquin.

Thanks for sharing the trip. What an adventure, especially going solo. Is there a way to navigate the BWCA without having to portage, for someone less able to carry such a heavy weight, and if not, how far is the average portage. I am planning on 2019 August trip to BWCA, and was wondering if that is an optimal time to visit there. Thanks in advance for any advice as to the best time to visit, and where to rent canoes/put in for a week long camping getaway.
