I posted this on his youtube page but I'll paste here for some info for anyone else is doing that trail. It's something to keep in mind if you're hiking in the BWCA. Any site that can be accessed by the water that is on a canoe route you have to anticipate possible canoeists. The BRT is the most notable for this as it's "bordering" (bad pun intended) several popular canoe routes.
No, Clearwater is both. That's way more common in the BWCA proper, except for the few off the beaten path like Whiskey Jack on the Angleworm Trail. We were staying there on Clearwater one year and a backpacker came in. The BRT had beat him up so much he begged for us to paddle him out and then we gave him a ride back up the Gunflint to his car. Poor guy. And yes unfortunately Clearwater is one of the few lakes that border the wilderness that have allowed 20hp boats.
