Yeah, the timber hitch works with straps, I have a video somewhere.

Thanks Gadget, your timberhitch tied with a bight
is tied and untied faster—than a regular timberhitch.
I think I remember seeing one of Shug’s videos on tarp suspensions—-using a timberhitch tied with a bight—he wrapped a short bight around standing part and the coils emanated from both sides of the bight. It had a ripcord type release—
untied just by pulling loose end.
Cool, thanks guys. Got a few options to play with now. I should have known Jeff Myers would have a video on it lol! That man LOVES knots and splicing! Part 2 and 3 of that series above were the most relevant FYI. The timber hitch looks dead simple.
Two reasons I was looking into this. First, I wanted to see how easy or hard it would be so that I could decide whether a suspension with a semi-permanent strap attached to the hammock would be worth it in some situations. Second, I wanted a way to tidy up all that unused strap slack when I’m feeling like doing the extra work.

I like the Siberian Hitch aka the Evenk Knot. It’s fast to tie and untie and you can do it with a gloved hand. For me, it’s faster than the Timber Hitch.
Granny knot! ?
but seriously , truckers hitch or timber hitch
