Best knot to tie a strap around a tree?

So let’s say you have a strap with out a loop on either end. What would kind of knot would be best to use to wrap it around the tree for a hammock suspension? I’m guessing most of you would suggest tying a bowline to make a loop and thread it through as if it were a typical tree strap. I’m wondering about alternative solutions. What would be a good knot to use instead that would be safe, but easy to untie after a night of sleeping on it?

    Slipped buntline hitch.

But seriously, just make a loop with an overhand knot and be done with it.

I'm becoming a fan of the timber hitch. Been using it lately skidding logs and lifting 8 inch hoses. Easy to tie and untie.

If I was ever to go hardwear free, and back to tying knots, I would probly go this route.

Gadget, timber hitch, I agree with Gadget.
And I add....I would add extra wraps, maybe a total of 9 to 12 wraps. Maybe wrap until wraps are on far side of tree, where they will be squeezed the most!

It would still be jam proof-nonjamming

    And still untie quickly
Extra wraps will make three wrap hitch less likely to fail-fall on yo haid

Best knot to tie a strap around a tree?

And after finishing timber hitch with extra extra wraps——I’d probably tie a slip knot in strap as it exited just after the last wrap. There would be no pressure on slip knot—it would just be there, if the strap began to pull the wraps in an unraveling direction (unlikely) then the slip knot would not be able to be pulled through under strap against tree
(almost impossible) and still have fast untie.

If you go the timber hitch route just offset the loop to one side of the tree so the strain comes on the loop first.

That's a lot of tying. Hope u have a lot of strap and plenty of light left in the day. ROFL. Just kidding. I know the Timber Hitch works great with rope but sometimes these knots don't work as well with webbing. Just curious if people actually use this with webbing under stress?

Personally I've only used it with rope. Think what I have is 3/4 and 1 inch.
