Why not figure 8 loop knot on one end then slide the webbing through like a traditional tree strap?

Two half hitches with the second one slipped (don't pull the second one all the way through-leave a big loop, or put a stick through a small loop). I've been hanging this way for years on polypropelene webbing with no issues.
There is a youtube video showing this but tie a bowline loop on one end. put that end around the tree. Take the slack end form a loop and put a stick in the loop (almost like a marlin spike hitch). Then when you put up the tarp line you can get it tight as normal but when you are ready to leave just remove the stake and the line comes down easy peasy.

Since I tied horses and mules to immovable objects for decades (well they were SUPPOSE to be immovable ) tying a Halter, aka, Siberian, aka slippery overhand on itself, and etc. comes as a second nature go to knot for the sort of application shown. If a mule/horse can lay back on it and it still will come untied it will pass muster for any hammock application.
However, I usually have a loop in the end of the tree straps I use that either the other end of the tree strap or a carabiner goes through. I use to use the timber hitch with chain exclusively for skidding logs with work stock and it is the perfect "knot" for that application.

So I think I have found a great application for this. I just got a gear hammock from Kitsapcowboy in the marketplace he calls the “Warbag”. It’s made of silpoly. So it’s not an issue to pack it with wet straps and probably doesn’t need a water break either. So I decided to just run a set of kevlar straps through the sewn channel with a larks head. I’ll be using the slippery timber hitch for my first test run with it.
Adutchable clip "knot" from Dutchware gear Really easy to tie.
Tugboat hitch finished with a slippery half-hitch....assuming what you're using is really long....

Yes I forgot Lighterman’s hitch aka tugboat hitch.
Holds great and best of all does not jam, and casts off easy (on a wharf piling) and easy enough on a tree.
We’ve gone full circle with lots of great knots.
Isn’t Lighterman’s hitch also known as Hennessy wrap? Anyone know?
I just now watched Shug’s video of Hennessy hammock and suspension—-LH and Hwrap are different and not same knot.
