    Tarp pole mod help needed

    Should be a straight forward mod but.....
    Has anyone in here modified a winter tarp (similar to what Shug did in his hex) where you create "pockets" to insert the tent pole on the inside of the tarp?

    I found on Amazon some 11'3" "replacement" tent poles that can be cut down and pulled the trigger and bought them. Looks to be straight forward - found an Excel spreadsheet that breaks down what each section needs to be and all looks simple enough however I assume it won't be.

    Any advice is welcomed - thanks in advance - ps what you used what length and results would be awesome

    A single center pole needs to fit much more precisely than the oblique double internal poles at each end, so be sure to do a test fit to account for the give in your part panel and pockets.

    Will do but I am planning on using two poles both set where the door flaps start. see illustation below;

    Poles will attach accross the tarp from both of the doors.

    what have you got for tie outs?

    if it's grosgrain loops of some sort, you can just insert a beastee dee on it, and boom, done. no pockets, no sewing, easy peasy

    Definitely beastie-D's but they're regular tie outs. Can I send them in and still use them for the tie outs too?

    well, maybe a picture helps?
    All I did was clip a tiny gap in the beastee dee, and slid it onto the existing loop. 5 seconds of work to add the pole mod

    and it was fine thru some 40-60 kmph gusts at the manitoba hang 3 weeks ago

    Nice!!! Well I will try this first. Still going to have to figure out how to cut down the poles as they are 11'3" a and I only need 112", but this is encouraging news.

    You can do this -- what I call "Countrybois-style" two-way tie-outs with a LineLoc 3 and a Beastee Dee ring on the same length of grosgrain ribbon. This let you use internal poles and still guy out your tarp.

    You are the SOLVER - exactly what I was shooting for. Thanks a bunch.
