Same technic, just more patience and use thinnest wire possible that will still push through. I've spliced a bunch of 1.7mm Zing-it and 2mm Dynaglide. After awhile it seems normal and the occasional use of Amsteel feels like splicing firehose! LOL

You've pretty much laid it out. As Mad777 noted, thin wire for a tool is a must. I use cheap magnifying reading glasses and a good bit of patience. It's fun and satisfying to make ridgelines and tarp tie outs and whatnot from zingit, so go for it.

I already wear glasses and am far-sighted so I wear these when splicing Zing-It:

Do you still taper the ends?

Yes! A blunt bury is the weakest point in a splice. Failure will always occur at that blunt end. Always taper!

Yes, I do. It makes splicing much easier, which is reason enough.

Tapering the ends makes a stronger splice and makes an easier bury process.

Already mentioned-Strong reading glasses and thin wire/splicing tool.

It's a little more difficult than 7/64 but not impossible by any means, have fun!

I just found some old cat 5 cable, stripped it down and used a single wire. Works pretty well and doesn't break.

I completely fray the last 3/4”-1” and fan it out then cut it to a point like a spear tip. >
