I know the makers of Bridge hammocks sell their own UQ brands, but I was hoping others of you out there found your down UQ works just fine (or better) than the matching Bridge product? Im looking specifically at 20* quilts. Thanks

I used a Hammock Gear 20* incubator on a JRB Bear Mountain Bridge and a diy bridge without issue. Do you have to dial it in? Yes. But you need to do that with any hammock and any quilt.

I tried using an assortment of UQs on my bridge hammocks.
What I found is the quilts designed for gathered end hammocks came up way over the sides of my bridge. I had air leaks and was unable to see out of my hammock.
In my experience most UQ will go on a bridge, however the fit is not custom, you have UQ up to and over the hammock. I could not get a leak proof fit.
Basically you should be able to use any insulation under your hammock. A custom fit is the most effective.
I've experimented a time or two with my AHE Jarbidge on my wife's Ridgerunner, though not yet in truly cold conditions. She's used it in the upper 40s once and was fine. I've had it on there but it was upper 50s, so not a lot of data. By looping the suspension around the protruding tips of the spreader bars I thought the fit was good without gapping and sealed up on the ends without issue.
"...the height of hammock snobbery!"
I would imagine, in general, the UQ that was designed to work the matching bridge would be "best". Of course a different or a custom UQ may work better as far as coverage, weight, down vs. synthetic, etc. If you are looking for a more specific answer it would be helpful to know which bridge you are looking for a companion UQ.
Basically everything with hammocks is a personal choice.
I know people who dislike the UQs designed for their respective Bridge Hammock, because they want a quilt to come up and enclose them in their bridge.
I used a GE UQ a couple of times then I made a synthetic UQs for both my JRBBM & RR.
My RR is not as deep as my Bear Mountain, so to get a fit that works well for me I had two different UQ.
Now I only use my RR, I had a couple of UQ that were not made by Warbonnet that fit perfectly and took me down to fairly low temperatures.
The idea is the bridge UQ covers the bottom, the TQ drops downand around the body, forming a seal. No openings for cold air to sneak in. When there is a lot of loose or gathered fabric it is difficult to get a good seal.
Again it comes down to needs and personal choice.
I have had friends die because their equipment failed to perform properly. I spend part of my time in conditions that are extremely cold, I buy the best equipment I am able to afford, because my life might depend on my equipment.

Im actually looking at this..
https://www.rei.com/product/128163/r...me-air-hammock but I dont think the UQ they offer is down.
I used my 20° 3/4 length Loco Libre Habanero for a night of testing with a Ridgerunner. It got down to 36°, and I stayed toasty warm. It took some dialing in, but once I had it where I needed it, I didn't have to mess with it after that.
