    DIY Under Quilt Protector ?

I searched but did not find a thread on a under quilt protector, are there any ?

Is it just a smaller hammock or because its not structural its even a lightweight banana shaped bag ?

But how do you figure out the right size ?

Depends on what you are trying to protect it from. Spindrift? Splashback? Wind?

Here's a good how-to by Jellyfish for large size:

I made an extra long underquilt protector for my 12’ long hammock. My main goal was to stop wind from blowing through my underquilt and it works pretty well.

Just throwing this out there on an old thread....I followed Jellyfish's tutorial to make an UQP where she used the same silpoly stuff she used to make her tarp. I've used it twice now and it REALLY blocks the wind. Unfortunately, it also REALLY collects then condensation as it doesn't breath. I've had to remove it both times within a couple of hours due to the condensation getting my down UQ wet...(It was unbeatable for those two hours though )

Guess I'll need to make the next one out of a calendared nylon or the membrane poly taffeta....

Remember, you are protecting the quilt, not the hammock. So you material size might be better determined by the quilt length rather than the hammock length.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.
