    Lite Owl Lay

I've had my Lite Owl for several years. Love it. Every hammock that I've always had has been head left, feet right. That's how the Notty Mod is on my Lite Owl. I'd like to try head right, feet left. Can I just lay that way in the Lite Owl? Just ignoring the Notty Mod benefits for a night or two? Just trying something new.

Flip the hammock and it works great as a Head right feet left Hammock. It’s the only way I lay in mine. Check out Shugs Hammock Armada video and I believe it shows you how!

Well, my Lite Owl was whipped with a "Warbonnet Whip". I would not recommend flipping a hammock with this type of whip - at least not permanently - because I'm not sure how much extra stress this puts on the fabric. And it will shorten the sides because the C of the whip points down. Hope this is understandable.

It's no problem to lie in the hammock in the other direction, and simply ignore the Knotty mods.

I'm a little confused. I did test this last night and it worked great. When I flipped it over, the hammock whipping was still pointing "up". Flipped again and tried it as normal. Both ways very comfortable. In fact, I fell asleep for about 30 minutes.

I'm not saying that it doesn't work. IF Wilderness Logics hasn't changed the way they gather their hammocks (I bought my Lite Owl in 2012, so it's possible that they're doing it differently now), the fabric is gathered like this. This creates a "knob" that is shaped like a C. The hammock is usually hung with the belly of the C facing towards the ground. If you flip the hammock, the belly would be facing upwards. This either forces the fabric to twist, or the outer edges have to bend "backwards". Apart from creating a different lay, I was always a bit worried that it puts more stress on the fabric.

I would think that if Wilderness Logics posted that it could be done, then it must be ok to do.

You're right. I didn't see that they had suggested flipping it. Personally I still make sure to hang my whipped hammocks with the whipping pointing in the "right" direction. Call me OCD or over-cautious. It neither looks nor feels right to me.

Hutzelbein, maybe possible to undo gathered ball and redo it with curve oriented other direction.
I’m not sure if it makes any difference just flipping hammock upside down. I think you are right.
