I thought I give the Turtle Dog Hammock Stand a go! I have no suitable trees in the backyard and I just need some fresh air!
8" Gate hinges...maybe overkill 5" or 6" heavy duty gate hinges will due (x2)
I just looked for one that had the middle hole centered and not off to one side.
1/4"x2.5" (My next stand will be..5/16"x2") bolts with locknuts and fender washers (x8)
small stainless steel shackles (x2)
2" x 2" x 8' pressure treated lumber (x6) cut to 6'5"
10' 3" chainlink fence top rail (x2)
10' long with 3" swedge for easy assembly
Polyester powder coated for durability
18ga steel
Each cut to 6' 5" after joining them together with th 3" swedge end. - total length (12' 7"). The 2 endcaps add 1 1/2" to each end. (Total 13' which will give additional length plus a location for the tarp to hook on to the end.) The caps are held on the toprail by applying outdoor adhesive inside the post caps.
15" continuous loops (x4) One larks onto the fence top-rail to hold the pole up. The second larks on the end cap then threads under/between the larks that is holding the rail up.
Hammock attached to 15" Continuous Loops with larks head knot and a Titanium Toggle
Tarp attached along the rail from the ends using a Continuous Ridgeline
