    New hanger from SE Ohio

Hello I'm Aerialtraveler from SE Ohio. I'm currently working on piecing together a hammock set-up and have found this forum to extremely helpful.

As a recreational tree climber I often see great places to hang in the backcountry and in the tree canopy. Tree climbing and hammocks just seem to go together nicely. I'm looking forward to learning more by reading some the great threads and posts and interacting with other members.

I'll post some pictures soon of some of the items I'm piecing together. May even do a video someday too. Here are several links to some of the tree climbing and hiking videos on my Youtube channel.

    Monkeying Around

    Hiking

That slip and grip climbing tool, you used in your left hand. Does it grip rope by doglegging it or by squeezing or by a ratchet mechanism that only lets rope go one way?
I watched your beech tree video.

I'll post some soon, Don't have a full set-up yet. I'm currently using a 11' net-less from Dutch and a Superfly tarp from Warbonnet. I've been looking at Arrowhead underquilts and UGQ top quilts for a while. Can't wait to pull the trigger on one or the other or both

Phantom Grappler - Thanks for watching. The gold hand ascender is manufactured by Petzl (the gold model in the video is almost 20 years old), it uses a spring loaded cam to clamp on the rope when you pull down and will freely slide up the rope when advancing your position. I use it and a foot loop to create a step for my left foot.

TreeFool has some really cool videos (I'm a subscriber), I think his youtube channel has taken a different direction recently.

Well you're certainly off to a good start equipment wise. That's the same setup I started with. I also just recently got my first Arrowhead UQ, a 1S. It is an excellent product and value. Welcome to the HF's.
