Noob from Smoky Mountains of Tennessee

    Greetings all,

Stumbled on this Forum after I had purchased a Hennessey Expedition zip and hex tarp. No regrets yet after only one nights use in the backyard. However I might have made different choices had I Discovered the great wealth of knowledge available in this Forum prior to my purchase.

In an effort simplify the set-up prior to my first overnight hang I converted the HH ropes for Dutchware red/blue continuous loops, Black Diamond climbing carabiners and Kammock Python straps. For the tarp I am using Dutch Lash-its with Stingerz. Knowledge gained by reading a whole bunch of forum posting.

As a lifelong tent camper, hammocking is a huge change with a tall learning curve. But I looking forward to smoothing out the bumpy road ahead by reading postings from folks who've already travel down this road and contributing where I can.

    Cheers,
    Wye Knot

Welcome to the forums. If you haven’t stumbled across Shug’s videos yet they are a wealth of knowledge and ideas. I still like to rewatch them from time to time just to refresh my memory.

Yes Shug’s videos should be required watching for anyone new to hammocking. Welcome to your newest addiction.
We're all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that's all.

Thanks. Yep, watched a bunch of Shug's videos, learned a lot too and I dig his humor. Another Addiction, is my biggest fear regarding hammocks. Got it with my motorcycles, bicycles, camping gear, fishing gear and a few other things, except women, cause my wife says I can only have one.

Sounds about like me. I’m trying to stick to just a couple of hobbies. Fly fishing, backpacking and hanging out in the woods are my favorites.

Welcome from South Carolina. My family and I had a great hammock camping trip to GSMNP this spring. We started making the switch a few ago and now cannot imagine going back to ground. Have fun on your journey!
