    DIY Catch-All Sack (Bishop Bag)

First off, my sewing skills are right up there with Gilbert Gottfried's ability to keep his voice down.

Even so, I wanted a bishop bag large enough to hold my hammock, uq, tq, and pillow without having to take anything apart. It works perfectly. The wide mouth makes it very easy to stuff everything inside with little effort.

Now I can deploy/take down my entire sleep system in the same amount of time it used to take me to just deploy/take down my hammock.

    Materials used:
-RSBTR 1.1oz Ripstop Nylon (Charcoal Grey)
-Leftover Dutchware orange Reflect-It for the drawstring
    -RSBTR Double ended mitten hook
    -RSBTR mini cord lock
-Piece of leftover Paracord 325 for the loop to hold the mitten hook

    Total weight- 50g

    Good for you! And congratulations.

Did you sew the bottom straight across? What dimensions did you start with and end up with?

Thank you! I started with a 36"X53" blank. I used the 36" for the length, and folded the 53" in half to make the width and opening. I basically just sewed along the "L". Finished dimensions are 33"long X 25" wide.

    The bottom is flat-sewn.

Thanks. Is the bottom hole adjacent to the seam?

What I did on the bottom was roll hem the whole thing. Then I folded the fabric in half, and sewed the two sides together on the inside of the hem. When I got close to the end, I stuck the loop of Paracord between the layers and did my lock stitch on the Paracord to hold it securely.

By roll hemming the edge first, it allowed the open hole for the CL to still have a finished edge.

I like it, and might make one myself.

Question: What's the purpose of the mitten hook and paracord?

Thank you! The Paracord loop is just a way to hold the mitten hook. And the mitten hook connects to the continuous loop of my hammock to keep it from pulling back inside the bag.
