KY> Mammoth Cave NP> Questions for a family campout (June)

How busy is the MCNP Mammoth Cave Campground this month? Is it likely to find a walk up site?
Do I need to show up Thursday to get a site for the weekend?
If I show up Sunday late after noon, can I still likely get a walk up site?
I actually only need a site from a Sun-Thur. There will be 5 of us, me in the hammock.

If I have to, I will show up Thur to get the site until the next Thur.

    Thanks,
    Ken

It is pretty busy this time of year but Sunday a lot of folks pack up. I have gotten sites there thru the week a couple of times with not much problem.

All of the reserved sites are reserved already. We have to do the walk in.

We got there on Sunday the 24th about noon.
There were SO many sites available, and the campground was not even close to full the whole week. We left Thursday.

The week we were there it rained hard every day, several times a day. And hard.
We had a great time. 2 tarps, a canopy, a 4 person tent, a 2 person tent and my bridge hammock.
