    Pad material for inbetween layers

WBBB XLC (DBL Layer), Son just got it to replace the HH Explorer he could never get 100% comfy in.
Not going to sew up an UQ till we are 110% sure the XLC is the ticket.

I want to by a foam pad to slip in-between the layers for our summer trips till I get the time to sew an UQ.
Looking at nighttime temps in the mid to low 60's.
He is a side sleeper and like a stiff hammock.

I was looking at 1/4" CCF from foam companys,, but what type of foam?
    Polyethylene? Cross linked? EVA? Density?
    Open cell? Closed cell?

Looking at 1/4" 48"x 108" for 16.99,, At that size, I could cut it to fit the asym lay.
    http://www.thefoamfactory.com/closed...yethylene.html

Am I barking up the wrong tree?
    Thanks,
    Slack

I find this REI Flash pad pretty comfy in a hammock.
And yes, the Gossamer Gear foam pad is pretty supple.

Too narrow, to short, and WAY to expensive.
Any idea "what" type of foam it is?

The link in the OP has 1/4" 48" x 108" for 17.99 - 24.99,, just not sure which foam type would be correct.

It is closed cell cross-linked Evazote foam.

Could you share where you got it? How is it working for you? Warm enough?

I’d like to know the differences; there’s a lot of conflicting information on foam types - specifically the performance of each of the different types. Apprently there’s a big difference Iin performance among them. Foambymail.com has several varieties. I actually like CCF for its cost savings, weight, comfort in a bridge, and bomb-proofness.
If anyone could share their experience with some of these different foams that would be great.

When I was researching this topic for myself, I came up with Evazote foam is the penultimate at least at that time. It uses nitrogen in generating the cells. If I remember correctly it was developed in the UK. It use to be called "hard man" pads since it was favored by climbers for the insulation and toughness when it counted. There were some folks that had it like GG and Nuntak, and MEI in Canada. I wanted 1/2" stuff and not the too thin stuff. I finally found what I wanted on ebay sold by a company called Multimat in the UK. It is 25" wide so it works great with a hammock. There are also some bulk places that specialize in the various types of foams including CCF and even Evazote that are on the web. Plus, some Marine, aka boating, equipment places that sell it for repairing/making Marine furniture padding.

In fact right now the pad is between the double layers of my DH Sparrow that I recently have been sleeping in (I like to change it up between the WBBB XLC and Hammocktent 90). What I like about it between the layers is it rough enough to really stick in place on the diagonal. I have also been using an Exped Regular Synmat on top of the Sparrow. The Exped is slick enough that when I climb into the hammock I can scooch the Exped into the diagonal with my heels just off the end and adjust fore and aft to where I want to be. During the adjustment and beyond the Multimat sticks right where it belongs on the diagonal.
