Cloudburst w/ door kit or Superfly for RR?

    Hi folks!

I need some advice. I use a RR pretty much exclusively now. I have a Cloudburst and I really like how it is just so perfectly compatible with the RR (like they were made for each other) However, I live and camp in the mountains (East Tennessee) and the wind often changes here continually during bad weather, so I need a tarp with doors.

The most obvious answer would seem to be a Cloudburst with a door kit, but I have concerns: it looks like in high wind there's a potential for a gap to open up where it wraps around the ends of the tarp and allow spray inside. And it seems like it will increase the "fiddle factor" in setting up.

My other option is a Superfly - but the pull-outs don't line up with the spreader bars and the doors cannot close real well around the suspension. What to do?

I'd really like someone with the experience of riding out a storm in a cloudburst with a door kit to please chime in and share their experience/results. All others using Ridgerunners with a Cloudburst and/or a Superfly are more than welcome (read that: encouraged) to join in sharing their experiences as well. I really need to figure this out and could use some input. Thank you all for being here.

I use a SimplyLightDesigns.com Winter Haven with doors with a 12 foot ridge line along with my RR and the doors close just fine.
I also have a Cloud Burst but I find that I take my Winter Haven exclusively.

Thank you for posting. I'm pretty much committed to Warbonnet. I love their gear and I have a wife & three kids to buy for, and WB has a sale. Have you tried a door kit with that Cloudburst?

Hmm. I have a cloud. And Rr. I think if I were you I’d elect to buy those doors. I guess both are on sale but. Out of the two you sled about I think the fit would be better with the rectangle cloud with doors corresponding panel pulls and loops for netting wins for me. Either way is pretty”fly”

I could be wrong, but I don’t think the door kit is compatible with the cloudburst. Pretty sure the metal rings attached at the corners of a tarp like the mambajamba are for attaching a door kit, and my cloudburst doesn’t have those.

Well I stand corrected, warbonnet sells a door kit for the cloudburst. Not sure how it would attach to mine

Thanks to all who have posted. After considering the replies from y'all, reading old threads for hours, spending last night in a thunderstorm under my Cloudburst and a slew of emails back and forth with Brandon, I worked it out. Thanks again to all who helped, and to HF for being here.

Thanks for the info, I'm in the same place you are with a RR and a Cloudburst. I think I'm getting the door Kit and maybe for winter I'll add a (New style) Spindrift later. Tks

Oh, let us know how it works and fits?

I had the Cloudburst a few years ago and wasn't satisfied with the coverage. I opted to sell it here and go back to my SuperFly. No, the pullouts don't line up exactly but I rarely use them anyway. The doors don't seal totally but I'm OK with that (we're talking a tarp, not a submarine).

I got caught in a microburst last year in this combo. I was warm and dry with just wind/rain. However, that 60mph or so gust snapped a guy line and from there things went to crap. I had to make a run for the truck. Thankfully, the next morning I let everything dry out in the sun for a while, tied the line back together, and was back in business. The tarp showed no damage.
