Dutch is the Jedi Master of webbing/straps. He is the webbing innovator extraordinaire. He sells the gram for gram lightest, strongest straps available insofar as I have seen. UHMWPE and Kevlar straps are great. Daisy chain webbing in a given material will alas always be heavier than the one ply webbing, but the UHMWPE daisy chain webbing is as light as you will find in that style of webbing strap. No, I am not a dutch ware employee. I just love his gear.

thanks. looks like i'll need to stitch my own or just buy the ENO Helios. i currently use woopie slings, single-ply 6' nylon strap and a marlin spike knot, but i'd hoped to switch to an amsteel soft shackle and have the added adjustability. the question will be if the soft shackle plus looped strap actually weigh less than the nylon and titanium tent peg i use as the spike. 1st world problems.

Avoid nylon strap, because nylon straps stretch and then you will be lower in morning and your suspension will be different than when you did set up.
Use poly straps instead—-or poly dyneema—-or dyneema straps—-or kevlar straps.
All of these have minimal stretch compared to nylon straps.
    Good luck, hang tight....

Another option would be to take a look at the Exped hammock suspension. Looks like they have discontinued the bulkier daisy chain that I actually preferred over their dyneema slit rope, but I do still like the slit rope. It has attached tree huggers that are narrower than what you want, but you could cut off and replace with wider. They also have a single piece of slit rope that is the ridge line in their hammock setup to which you could add your own tree huggers.

Note that I have the 2016 extreme version and the 2017 extreme version says it is faster than the 2016 version. Don't know how they could have made faster unless they made the holes a touch bigger. Can find under Exped.com under products under hammocks. Last time I looked the difference between the extreme and the regular was the regular was a lot bulkier rope. It I liked it because it was easy to clip into the numerous holes one handed where as the dyneema was a little harder to find the slits.

Currently the lightest daisy chain webbing is Dutches spider web, it's only 1" and weighs 4.89 grams per foot. Currently the lightest 2" webbing is the Dutch Kevlar 3.1, which comes in at 3.1 grams a foot.
