I am planning to hike in Colorado in July with a friend. My problem is that I have talked him into trying a hammock, and I only have one 30* UGQ underquilt. My time is running out to have something made by mid July, so my thoughts are moving toward some of the DIY 40* costco underquilts and top quilts on ebay. Temps are usually in the 40's in the night. After reading some posts here about the costco DIY stuff, it doesnt seem like they would keep me warm.
Is this accurate? For those who have made or purchased these, what's the lowest temps you would shoot for? This is with a good insulated clothing layer on while sleeping.
Thank you in advance!
