    T R for NC> 2018 May-Lay Hang by TSH

*If you didn't get (Meleed) May-Layed* It's your own fault! Lol

Trip Report for the 2018 May-Lay held May 11-13 at beautiful Lake Norman State Park in Troutman, NC
Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers and Mothers to be from HF & TSH!

Starting off Fri with about 10 Hangers: Temps were Hot around 92 & Low 65. A nice rain shower just after the wonderful Gumbo prepared by Cajun Racer (Field Rep for Sierra Madre Research). A demo from Mr. Pickle with a Tentsile invented Tree Tents. Followed up with a SMR Demo from Barry (Cajun Racer) on the Nice Hammocks and innovated designs. More talk, more eating things like trail mix by Phantom Grappler and Roasted starburst ( Yes just like a marshmallow but a starburst) by Layton and Paul. Very different and good! After the rain and a nice relaxing campfire we settled in and I'm sure I left out something or someone but not intentional.

Sat. Woke up to a beautiful morning and an invasion of bandits stealing some bread, chicken & a apple pie. Basically the wind and rain had moved a few bags and items to reveal some goodies for the raccoons temptation. lol Still with temps in the 90s but we had a slight breeze all day. After a good breakfast, coffee we had lots of activities during the day. A few did different things with a large group of us doing the Lake Shore Trail (short version 3 miles or full 6.2 miles) and I did the short one and wanted No Mas. Ever seen a Moose tongue dragging? Well it was but beautiful views of the lake was worth every bit. As the day continued we had a few drop in visits, a few departed for Mothers Day plans and we had a few just got there in time for an open and warmed up tree. Later in the evening we started out with TSH famous gear trade and swap table. Names and gear will be held for fear of ruining Mother's Day and to not add an extra night in the hammock when arriving back at home. Haha
Sat. Night meal was another group effort: Mike Lyle with his southern fried chicken in a cast iron pot, Paul Farmer with the over the fire roasted Chicken legs, Mark Holden had a slow cooked Boston Butt, Paul's Dutch Oven Peach cobbler and to many to remember and list. Another great campfire by Mike, Paul and David (Fireman) but even with the abundance of flames, lies and loud snoring we had an attempted bandit invasion but this time (Chris) Mr Pickle was ready to sound the alarm and him, Mike and host of others ran those suckers off. Only to lose a few tortilla shells for Sun breakfast burritos. Oh well, they gotta eat some as well.
Sunday morning we all departed the May-Lay with sore muscles, full stomach once again, smiles, new friends, new recipes, new stories and lies from old friends and plans for a future hang and get together somewhere in the trees and hearts to come.
Thanks to all for the support, help, food and other items. Can't wait to help plan the 2nd annual May-Lay 2019 next year. Look for details and join in the (Melee) May-Lay.
Please fill free to post pics and your favorite activity, food items, stories and tells. I'm sure I left something out......

PS: Look for a NC TSH event in Aug. Location and dates TBA (Open for suggestions.....) and of course the US famous TSH Hangsgiving in Nov at Morrow Mountain State Park date TBA.
