An asymmetrical netted hammock, and netless hammock are exactly the same, and can be used the same way. They are simply rectangular material. An Asymmetric net just forces the issue a bit. I lay on a diagonal in a netless or netted hammock.

I should clarify what I was trying to say...

With the asymmetrical hammocks, especially the Blackbird, you will tend to have more of a footbox due to the netting that creates the asymmetrical dedicated direction of lay. Remove the netting and you will loose the footbox (and shelf of the Blackbird).

Footbox, yes... no footbox without net. But a knotty mod is very helpful!

A Chameleon does not have a dedicated lay -- you can choose which direction you wish to lay in a Chameleon--one of its benefits. A Blackbird is set up before you buy it to allow only one direction of diagonal lay (you choose).

The bugnet keeps all my crap in my XLC, especially my top quilt. I'm not sure what my problem is but everytime I get back to the hammock it's on the stupid ground with my pillow.

Chameleon for me. The fully symmetrical bug net let's you enter in whatever side you want. You can remove the net, and the add ons are amazing. It fits my cry once mentality.
