A pair of patterns for the kids (or the kids at heart) UNOFFICIAL Giveaway

I do a lot of work with local scouting groups, and last week I received a "talking to" by a cub scout who uses our materials asking why we didn't offer any kid patterns. He asked for a Dinosaur. So I sat down and sketched out this little guy, adding to the design with the features he requested.

I announced this pattern on our Facebook community a few days ago, now it's time to share it with you guys. I have several variations in the works and will be following it up with more kid friendly patterns, so please, let me know what you'd like to see.

First, something subdued, for those wanting to blend in:

Want to stand out a bit more? Let's crank up the brightness!

Now for the giveaway bit. Why is it unofficial? Because Kyle will learn about the giveaway when he reads this post (sorry bro) but I used to do impromptu giveaways like this all the time, and I miss it.

To enter: Give me 2 ideas for new kids patterns, and give this dinosaur a name. Kid friendly names only, please. Contest ends May 5th at 11:59 PM EST.
Who decides the winner? My 11-year-old daughter will decide the winning name, 1 week from today. (May 6th)
What will you win? I'll buy the winner a custom printed Double ended Stuff Sack kit (Which will make 6 stuff sacks) printed on 1.6 Ripstop Polyester, of the full-color T-Rex, in your choice of color(s). I currently have 16 color variations, and I plan on making a few more over the week.

    Here are a few:

    Thanks all!

Well I don't have a name for the dinosaur....yet, but I think you hit it out of the park with your camosarus print. Love it! For other kid friendly animal designs, I think dragons and monkeys have appeal to both girls and boys. As a kid I would have immediately made the connection between monkeys and hammock gear swinging in the trees. I would have liked the dinosaur print because we earned plastic dinosaurs in school for good behavior and good grades. As a girl I would have much preferred the pink and green first dinosaur over something that looked specifically girly.

This is pretty cool. My daughter loves foxes. So how about a Fox print or a turtle print. A Fox camouflage print will make a nice fall camo pattern. Name the dinosaur "doodle"

You have an absolute winner. I think all kids love dinosaurs. I did, my kids did, my neighbor's kids do.

Your dino's are just too cute.

    Name: Hammosaur
Patterns: My little niece would like unicorns with rainbows and stars - purple and yellow are very important to her. My nephews dig everything that has wheels; bonus points if it makes noise, flashes or can do anything else beside roll like construction machinery, fire trucks, police cars etc. Dragons are popular with both the boys and girls since they saw the movie "How to Train Your Dragon".

I don't have a name for the print, I think Camosaurus that Starfish Comet coined knocked it out of the park for the subdued print name. As for the Dino name, a trail related name always comes to mind, so Blaze.

Print ideas, something with dragonflies with a subdued and bright option.

"Tex", short for T-rex, would be cute. For pattern ideas...BUGS!! Kids love bugs and they live in nature! Ladybugs, ants, dragon flies, butterflies, caterpillars, worms, beetles! Also, unicorns are super hot right now. Especially, rainbow, pink or purple.

How about a "creapy-crawly" pattern with [whimsical] snakes, spiders, bugs etc. Actually, there might be a market for a scarier version of that also!

Another suggestion: puppies/kittens/teddy bears, you know, snugly stuff.

+1 on Camosaurus (from Starfish Comet).

    For the dinosaur name:
    1) Boink (nod to OutdoorINK)
    2) Dino (recalling Fred Flintstone's pet)
    3) T-Roll (combo of T-Rex and Ripstop By The Roll), or Troll for short. A dinosaur with a misfit name.

For patterns, my suggestion is for bees and bats, whose populations are in decline and we need these Earth superheroes! (Besides, anything that eats mosquitoes gets a thumbs-up from me.)
    Find your inner hammock.

Name of T-Rex: Buddy (my favorite from Dinosaur Train).
    Tiny (from Meet the Robinsons)
    Grimlock (from Transformers)

    Patterns: Cartoon Dragons,
Anything Disneyish or Legoish (but you're likely to run into copyright issues with these)
My son would love anything StarWars.
