Loving my Chameleon hammock but I am finding my most comfortable hang significantly slacker than the factory ridgeline is set up for...is the standard Ridgeline designed to be shortened or do I need to make a new one?

Just curious, have you tried hanging with the foot end elevated by a foot or so? Also, how tall are you?
5'10"...with the Ridgeline taught I get 4idges under my legs and the ridges disappear when I slacken the Ridgeline lying diagonally
You can wrap a small biner around the ridgeline to shorten it. See how in this video at 10:20 in......https://youtu.be/d5JbklvD0zg

Tie an alpine butterfly in the ridgeline to shorten it!

looking to remove 5 to 6" of slack so the Alpine butterfly sounds like a good option ...thanks for the suggestions..
Maybe it stretched? How long is it now? If it is zing-it, I wonder if a knot would weaken it too much? Hopefully, someone more experienced can chime in. You might like an adjustable ridgeline. It’s basically a super long whoopie sling.
There have been a few posts in recent months discussing ridgeline stretch after initial and repeated loading. Tying an alpine butterfly or wrapping around a mini-biner are both good solutions. The root cause may be that the ridgeline has stretch and is now longer than when it was initially fabricated.

I found that I needed to lengthen the SRL on both my DH Sparrow and WBBBXLC. After experimenting with 8" CL added to the end and adjusted via biner wraps I replaced the SRL with a whoopie RL and adjusted to the sweet spot.
