    I Went to Dream Hammock....

    What a wonderful experience!

Randy and Deanna welcomed me with open arms.

We started out talking, I had a list of questions that Randy was very honest about in his answers. He asked about my objectives, what my goals were and what was important to me. Then we went outside I tried several designs, sizes and fabrics.

He and Deanna shared their experiences with me but let me make up my own mind. Once I did, we went inside to look at colors then they told me to go out one more time to be sure. That second hang was what really convinced me that I am getting exactly what is best for me.

They then followed up the next day to see if I had any follow up questions, that really impressed me.

All my friends are super envious when I tell them I went to get custom fit for my new hammock.

It really is a great feeling that I meet the people who are gonna make it, that makes me happy to support them.

If you have a chance, I recommend going strongly. If you are a football fan, make an experience out of it by planning to stop by the Football Hall of Fame as it is very close.

    I'm getting a Sparrow!

You are in wonderful hands with the Smurfs! I've been enjoying my Raven for over a year now.

I’m curious what length, width, and fabric you chose after having your hands on all the options. And what is your height and weight? Did you learn anything from your visit regarding what features are effective or not?

I realized that I prefer the HyperD over the Robic based on superior feel. As I side sleeper I was attracted to the reported extra firmness of the Robic but did not notice a difference while hanging. Being 6tf and 195lbs I was at home in the 11ft. Randy helped me with a proper width, while I could get by with 60” we decided that 63” was my ideal width.

I selected a 1.1 outercover with no DWR finish. I tested both and found the non DWR was noticeably more breathable which would help to reduce condensation. Since I’m under a tarp I felt the DWR added nothing to my set up.

Now, had I not gone I would have ordered Robic and guessed on width.

To me it was a four hour drive well spent.

That’s helpful feedback, thanks! I have a Sparrow on the way too. I went with 1.6HD, but I was indeed wondering how 1.7Robic would compare. I’m only about 150#, so I’m confident about it now. I went with 68” at 5’11”, but I like them wide.

Do all the DH top covers come with DWR by default?

That I do not know. The camo 1.1 I got was old stock however.

I visited with them when I picked up my Sparrow. It was a great experience. I even got to try some root beer that they had brewed. It's nice to think about the real people who made my hammock every time I use it.
