At Dream Hammock, we use a 7/64 Amsteel ridgeline.

    Lightest Structural Ridgeline Cord???

What happens when a ridgeline breaks? Seems like you would fall an inch or two but, if the rest holds, you wouldnt hit the ground.

When a ridgeline breaks, mostly due to a flatter hang angle and a tight ridgeline, the hammock ends get further apart until equilibrium is reached. And any gear; flashlights, phone, keys can be lost and or fall on your head.

All this is guessing on my part; my 1/8 ridgeline has not broken yet. And on current suspension, Kokomo, hammock ridgeline has been moved way way up to also be combination tarp and hammock ridgeline.
Some hammock campers skip hammock ridgeline completely. I need some kind of hammock ridgeline since eye don’t eye in very well.

Ridgeline can break if it’s used to hoist you up out of hammock. Not likely with 7/64 amsteel.

If ridgeline breaks, I think your chances of injury are remote. HYOH UL hammockers!

A 7/64” SRL for an 11 footer weighs only half an ounce. Seems like cheap insurance to me.

7/64 Amsteel SRL isn't going to break, period, and 1.75mm zingit isn't going to break either unless you've got a really crappy, shallow hangle. In which case the suspension and/or hammock could also fail when shock loaded.

Take note when setting up, and if SRL is tighter than a banjo string it's because the hangle is not right and needs to be readjusted. Fix it and eliminate the problem.
