Spring Overnight Hang With My Daughter

The weather cleared up and made for a pleasantly warm weekend. I'd been wanting to get out for an overnighter for some time and took advantage of the mild weather to bring my 5 year old along for her first campout of the year. Thanks to the lengthening daylight hours we were able to have family dinner before leaving and still have camp setup before dark.

Couldn't have asked for better weather, the overnight low hovered around 40*F with a gentle cool breeze. My daughter stayed plenty warm in a double layer down throw UQ, small wool blanket, and my down jacket tossed in for good measure. For myself, I took my new DIY down UQ for its first "solo" use outdoors.

We had found the perfect set of trees to hand side by side under one tarp. The head ends of our hammocks were on different forks of the same tree so there was none of the seasawing from my spreader bar.

Everyone around here is eager for summer to come with its BBQs and pool parties, but there's no beating the "Goldilocks" camping weather of the shoulder seasons.

Indeed, the shoulder seasons are my favorite times to be outdoors in the Mid Atlantic states. Looking forward to getting out there in the outdoors (not the backyard) with my family.

Looks like a great trip! Like you say, it's hard to beat the shoulder seasons, and how can you beat spending time with your kid? You can't, that's how.

Great setup with the double-hang single tarp. Here's hoping that you can get in as much of that as possible.

Actually we were both suffering from a virus from some bad spam. I'm not fully recovered, and it still hertz when IP.
