The weather cleared up and made for a pleasantly warm weekend. I'd been wanting to get out for an overnighter for some time and took advantage of the mild weather to bring my 5 year old along for her first campout of the year. Thanks to the lengthening daylight hours we were able to have family dinner before leaving and still have camp setup before dark.

Couldn't have asked for better weather, the overnight low hovered around 40*F with a gentle cool breeze. My daughter stayed plenty warm in a double layer down throw UQ, small wool blanket, and my down jacket tossed in for good measure. For myself, I took my new DIY down UQ for its first "solo" use outdoors.

We had found the perfect set of trees to hand side by side under one tarp. The head ends of our hammocks were on different forks of the same tree so there was none of the seasawing from my spreader bar.

Everyone around here is eager for summer to come with its BBQs and pool parties, but there's no beating the "Goldilocks" camping weather of the shoulder seasons.
