    Line Lock Hook

I doubt I'm the first to try this but thought I'd pass the idea along.

Until recently I've only ever used D-rings and knots to guy out my tarp so I decided to put line locks (along with D-rings) on my recent hex tarp. After using them a few times I have really liked them. I still use my other larger 12X10 tarp for hanging double and when I want doors and have been debating adding the line lock to the tieouts. It would be fairly simple to add them along side the d-rings but since that tarp has so many tieouts I put the idea on the back-burner. I saw the Line Lock Hooks when they were introduced but it didn't "click" until I saw videos of how they can snap onto D-rings. I figured they would probably work on my tarp d-rings as well.

Long story short I tried them out last weekend and they worked perfectly. I like being able to easily detach the lines from the tarp.

I can see the hook portion being a weak point but they are cheap and easily replaceable; this could make them a good fail-safe point.

Funny you should post this at this particular time.

Early this morning I hauled out my stash of bits and pieces for my tarp making. I was debating on how exactly, I wanted to use my "Line Lock Hooks. I am still playing with possibilities. Your pist just gave me a gentle nudge. LOL!

I’ve used them this way for a while. They work really well, but I’ve found that sometimes I have to back them up with a slippery half hitch on my yellow Zingit. I think if I had a slightly thicker cord they would work perfectly.

I haven't used them with zingit/lashit, but they hold very well in the Lawson Reflective cord I have. I also back them up with a slippery half hitch if it's windy.

I recently bought an SLD Winterhaven and it came with linelocs, love them. I was hoping there was a simple way to add them to my old tarp. This is perfect, thank you for posting this.

If your D rings are too big, just run a small loop of cord around your D ring and hook into it. You can even use a loop of shock cord which gives just enough stretch and tension.

I forgot to add this to the original post. 1/8" shock cord snaps into the hook nicely
