How do you find trials or plan trips.

Now that my wife enjoys hammock camping. I'm. Trying to find some weekend trips but I'm getting a little overwhelmed on where to start or how to find some loops. I have the all trails app download and it seems to be ok but just trying to see what other people do. I don't mind if they are state parks or just normal backpacking trips, I'm just trying to get out and explore more then my normal area. I'm in northeast PA and I'm willing to drive honestly up to 6 hrs really.

Most good trails have a website or the likes.

If you live near the AT, you could do some section hiking. REI sometimes sponsors hiking trips for a fee.

Most state forests are underrated and hardly visited, so I usually start looking there. Primitive camping is allowed in most PA State Forests (no permit needed for a 1-night stay, permits needed for multiple nights in the same spot). You can start with the Pinchot State Forest for instance. It's been years since I hiked the Pinchot Trail but it's 26 miles and camping is allowed. Moderate to easy. There are many other options. Also look for forests in surrounding states.

Since you are in PA, check out
    https://www.hikingupward.com/

It’s geared mainly to PA,MD, VA, and WV hiking areas. I’ve found several routes or at least the basis for routes of trips I’ve taken there.

Also, the Michael Martin book Best Backpacking in the Mid Atlantic has some fantastic routes.

I use an app / website called Alltrails. The app uses the gps on your phone to record your track and you can download other trails to your phone to follow so that you don't get lost. They don't have everything, but you can upload any gps track that you can find into it.
