What Size Mesh For Scottish Midges

I live in the USA and I am planning a trip to Scotland this summer. I want to make a Fronkey net to protect me from the midges in Scotland. Does anyone know what size mesh I will need?

I mention that I live in USA because the name of the mesh. for example, no seeum, might be named something different in the UK (where the midge experts are) and I need to buy the mesh in the USA.

    Many thanks in advance.

I can attest that the Noseeum mesh from RipstopByTheRoll and Dutchware will stop the wee Scottish beasties!

According to google mesh with 600 - 900 holes per inch will be enough for midges, netting for mosquitoes only has to be 400 holes per inch.

You can join the edges with a blanket stitch,

Roll the edges together, then stitch.

You might ask around. Perhaps a family member (mother, aunt, grandmother?) has one to loan or will do it for you. Or a co-worker. Hand stitching a bugnet sounds awfully time consuming!

Thanks guys. I don't know who I can ask to sew it for me but hopefully I'll come up with someone. The peak of my sewing skills is a rather poor job of reattaching a button.

You could save your pennies and buy a Fronkey bugnet from Dutchware for $57.

Which is certainly the path I would take if confronted with the option of buying vs hand sewing yards of no-see-um. If the midges/no-see-ums are truly that bad, I'd also recommend a permethrin dip for the whole kit. But that's just me, and you are, after all, the William Wallace of your bugnet/kit.
