New suspension system - WOW (at least for me)

I kept playing around with my webbing and rings and have found a webbing and single ring set up that is awesome for me, try at your own risk.

Maybe I didn't invent this but I discovered it today and wanted to share.

First pass webbing thru ring and back around webbing attached to tree.

Then bring webbing back around ring and back up towards end attached.

Decided to move loop to the back so this pic doesn't exactly flow from the previous one, but I still think you can see what I did.

Tightens nice and snug and the friction on the webbing locks well. This feels 3x as secure as the two ring/webbing setup I was using.

    (Backside)

I suppose you could run the tag back thru the loop and tie it in some kind of knot if you want (or pull the tag all the way thru and do the same). I didn't do any extra knot and it seemed to be very secure.

Loosens easily by pulling loop out or pushing all the webbing towards the ring if you pull the tag thru.

Anyway, I think I found my system and was just sharing in case anyone else could use it.

Slider. Wow. Is that a slipped larks head? Sounds like a winner. Easy to hang, is secure, modular, and easy to break camp??!!!

Very nice. This would also provide a good water break drip line.

My spacial awareness isn't the best so I can't picture the steps exactly. I will have to get out the webbing and see how close I can replicate on my own.....then get the wife to test it

This is exactly the way I hang my hammock, except I use SMC descending rings. I think it was Hanging Burrito showed it to me last year at the John Rock Hang. He said that rock climbers use it (except not the slipped version; they pull the tag end all the way through). They trust their life in it, so I'm good with using the slipped version to hang 20" off the forest floor.

I have used this for a year now and yes, it comes apart super easily and is fairly easy to make adjustments. The ring makes a nice water break and is easy on Amsteel. I also like the rings because I can use a trail stick as a toggle and hang my pack through the ring with the hang loop, which saves the weight of a carabiner. And for some reason, I just think that the SMC descending rings are cool-no moving parts and serve several functions.

Yep, holds tight and pulls loose very easily (when ready and you pull it), but at the same time like I said it felt significantly more secure than the 2 ring system. I didn't hang all night but for 15-20 mins and moved/bounced, etc to test it.

I hadn't seen it but figured it wasn't new, I'm done with my quest.
