Regular Chameleon or wide Chameleon

I'm a side sleeper and was wondering if the wide version would sleep different..? Enough to justify double the weight and the larger price tag...? Thank's

Unless you weigh 260 lbs. or more, I don't think so. It just weighs more.

I couldn't disagree more. I'm 6'5", 240 these days, but this applies to be when I'm 205 as well. Wide hammocks only for me. I feel forced crooked in anything less than 66". Just remember that the top cover or bug net is still the same size as in the normal width hammock, so that will limit your use of the body's width a bit. But I still recommend wide, and weight doesn't seem to be a factor for me.

For me its wide all day. @ 6'4" the wide allows for a much flatter and more comfortable lay for me.

Not me. I'm only 5'4", 132lbs, and I love wide hammocks. I don't like my hammocks to be narrower than 59" (finished width). The ideal width for a hiking hammock for me seems to be about 63". For home use, 70" and wider is nice.

@ChillyCheeks - as far as I can tell, width doesn't do much for side sleeping. I would say a hammock with little sag and little stretch is best suited for sleeping on the side with straight legs. The only hammock in which I can do that is my Warbonnet Double Layer Traveler XL. If you sleep in a fetal position, you should be able to do that in pretty much any gathered end hammock.

Go for the wide and test it out. I personally had one and sold it as there's simply too much fabric flopping around my face that i had to let it go. As you can see many like wide hammock. If you're not backpacking and looking to go light then I'd say try it out and see how you like it.

The limiting factor is not so much the bug net - provided the shape fits your lay - but rather the way hammocks work: since all that fabric is gathered at the ends, the hammock always has a bathtub shape. The wider it is, the higher the sides come up with the length being equal. That's why it makes no sense whatsoever to make a 9' hammock 6' wide (... I'm just saying "double" hammocks!). The shorter the hammock, the less width you can use. The wider the hammock, the longer it needs for you to be to be able to fully use the width. However, anything wider than 1" or 2" more than you're tall isn't really important for the lay anyways.
