I tried looking but can't find what I am looking for. I need to redo some waterproofing on 2 tents. Yes I will actually be using tents for a good reason. Me and my son will be going to philmont in 2019. So not only do I need a tent for that, but I need to spend some time getting used to sleeping on the ground. At this point I would rather spend my money on a pad and other things. I have a rei tent I bought at a garage sale and it was cheap, like 15$. It is otherwise in great shape, but the waterproofing has separated from the underside of the rain fly. I actually got a black diamond tent with the same issues. My son uses the black diamond from time to time and the rei tent has been a emergency back up tent for kids in scouts that had issues.
So I remember reading about people that made something with mineral oil and silicone or something like that. I have plenty of time and patients to give it a go, but I don't have a ton of money to buy a new ul tent. I figure if this works I will do both tents.
Thanks in advance.
Btw I would rather do a full silicone job then just respray some kind of dwr. I believe the plan would be to either soak the hole thing or paint the outside. But I am not against painting the inside, spraying the Dwr outside and i will also probably do the seems a bit thicker.
