Thanks for all the ideas! Using a spreader looks like the way to go for us. I would like each pair to sleep under the same bug net. Do you have any suggestions of how to secure/connect the net under the two hammocks?

Sure, get the bugnet made for this situation. The DOUBLE DUTCH BUGNET - https://dutchwaregear.com/product/double-dutch-bugnet/

Will the Double Dutch Bugnet work with hammocks that aren't Chameleons? It seems designed to only work with two Chameleons because of the zipper.

    As of our conversation.
    Take a look at
    This https://youtu.be/GAseceTXfjM

Shouldn’t be to hard to build.
You would only have to order the spreader bars and suspension hardware in the US. And everything under i think 1000kr is custom free.
Vacation in the us is perfect for buying gear. BTW.

    Greetings Mr.Magoo

The Dutch Ware system looks really nice. But when I start to add up all the tidbits for our family of four it starts to get pretty expensive. And then there's customs and VAT on top of that. So to start out I would like to go cheapo. Who knows, we might hate hanging from trees and just decide that the tent is the place for us. Or if we love it we can always invest more later.

I just got this setup for my daughter and I. She is 6. She was given a Hennessy Cub as a hand me down. Up to this point we have had to find the perfect tree setup. Not any more! This is awesome. I have the Dutch Chameleon hammock so I just changed her suspension to the beetle buckles and ordered the spreader bar. I love that I can unzip either side of my hammock to get to her when I need to. She feels so much more secure. Now she wants to camp every night.

I contacted Dutchwear about this because my daughter has a Hennessy Cub. The spreader bar will work with any hammock as long as you are using one of Dutch’s appropriate suspensions. I’m sure given that, the bug net would work for other hammocks as well.

The Double Dutch is made to zip to Chameleons, so it wouldn't work with other hammocks, I don't think.

What size spreader bar did you go with?
