    Help with pads

Hpw do you keep the pad under you. Just did my first hang in the back yard and every couple hours woke up with the pad off to one side or ontop of me. I have an underquilt, and also used a thermorest 3/4 pad. Is there something I can do to keep it under me.

Anyone ever put the Speer SPE in between the layers of a double layer hammock? Shug? I've used one in a single layer HH but have a DL BB now and thought I'd give it a try unless there is a good reason not too. Might help keep it situated better.

I was wondering is it best to use my 0' C / 32' F liteloft thinsulate bag or a wool army surplus blanket. with the GG 1/4" pad. is that going to be good for early spring late fall weather?
I'm not familiar with the army wool blanket. I think I would go bag .... you can zip in if it gets below 32ºF. Bring a hood or good toque with either.

I think so .......those wings keep the shoulder good and warm. you may have to find the sweet spot but I would go for it.
Post your results for us please.

This has been suggested to me but cut out the pad to fit the size of your foot box of your TQ and slip it inside the foot box. Then it will move with you.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I've always been happy with the 60X40" pad I got from Oware which I think is similar to those available from Gossamer. The combination of size and foam type makes the pad pretty steady and mine has never 'slipped' in my Hennessy...it simply has very little space to go anywhere. The extra width also provides additional insulation and wind block as it cups around my shoulders...

I got the 40" Wide 1/4 GG pad today. I really like the pad but I doubt I will ever bring it backpacking as it is too bulky.

Spoon, I trimmed my GG pad down a little and fold it in half then roll it. It's then short enough that you won't hit trees with it going down the trail. I thought about cutting it in half and using gorilla tape to make a hinge for it but didn't want to go to the trouble.
