VIDEO: Grayson Highlands in the Snow

After watching Shug's latest video I was dying to do some winter camping, after plans for another trip fell through and I saw Grayson Highlands was expecting some snow I couldn't wait to get out there. I wanted snow and boy did I get it. Be careful what you wish for!

Stayed warm in the Wooki 20 degree UQ and sheltered with the Thunderfly. A grueling trip but I had a blast.

Cool video. Good to hear all your gear performed well after your Wookie adjustments. I've yet to get up that way, but it's on my list. It's about a 4 hr drive for me, but I'll wait til warmer conditions! Thanks for sharing.

Yeah the wooki really has been great. It’s hard to tell in the video but I was hanging on a slant, I really had to readjust the hammock a lot to get the foot end above the head end. Before I adjusted I was sliding to the bottom of the hammock without realizing it. I slept great, from 830pm to 630am with only one bathroom break in the middle of the night.

Well...want snow...got snow. Mother Nature always dictates the pace. Looked amazing up there.
    Do you abhor snow now?
I know I am a bit sick of it.

Great video. I know that I am done with the snow, myself. Here in Ohio this year, it's seemed like the longest winter.

Thanks for sharing your trip. Your camp looked inviting, particularly with the sound of rain/sleet/snow on the tarp. Your homemade vestibule looked very practical. The view southeast from the AT in sunshine were stunning. I spent several days last fall with my local backpacking group near the Thomas Knob shelter. Add a snowy landscape to that setting makes it even more special. Glad you had a safe return to your car.

Loved the video and nice to see the new tarp as it looks like a great setup. The one thing the snow does is changes your timing but makes for a great sleep with the right gear.

It really does, I’ve been to the area a few times now and it felt like a brand new hike

I really am sick of it now. I was enjoying it until I made the wrong turn, then I was over it. I’m good with no more hiking in the snow until next winter. My ankles are still sore 3 days later
