Simply Light Designs removes all doubt by listing the options as "Head right/Feet left" or "Head left/Feet right"

I've also read that, statistically — and by a rather large margin, right-handed people tend to prefer Head left/feet right. However, I am right-handed and vastly prefer Head right/feet left. Go figure.
    I’m puzzled …

If I think that my feet are more important hiking, then I lay right. If I think that my brain counts for more, I lay left. If I don’t think, then I just squeeze myself into my Hennessy through the bottom and lift my stronger right leg up first. I think that means I lie correctly.

"Correct" is whatever is comfortable and preferable to the individual, no?

The remainder is a total whiff for me because I have no idea what it means.

For clarity I always refer to my preferred position as" head left, feet right." I figure that's pretty unambiguous.

Might not seem so silly if you order your hammock with the wrong lay

I have long thought we needed an acronym for this as there seems to be no standard and it's confusing at times even for long time hangers. HLFR and HRFL would work but perhaps some of you have a better idea.

Papa Smurf has the answer for you, check Dream Hammock web site for info.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

It's silly because the terminolgy itself is vague and ambiguous. The solution is simple: "Shoulder right" or "Shoulder left". EZPZ.

But there is a standard, feet left is left lay, feet right is right lay. Order your hammock any other way it will be wrong what's so confusing about that?
