I think what hutzelbein is trying to explain is the biased lay of the Wooki. The carrier fabric on the Wooki is the full width of the hammock, even though the warming area is a narrower area on a diagonal inside.

A regular rectangular quilt will tend to slip under the head and feet if it is a "normal" width (~44-50") and doesn't have any additional doohickies to keep it pinned at the sides.

I have noticed with both clew and spandex suspensions that wide is definitely better. 60" wide costco quilts would be nutsy on a regular suspension. But with clew or spandex, it becomes quite nice.

I'm one of those people that thrash a lot, so the Wooki actually wouldn't work well for me. I need something with more coverage, so a crazy 60" rectangular quilt actually serves me better.

This design has been done before

Red Oleary was the first here I saw post it, and it's what I've done with my CDT's as well

I just grabbed some nylon tho, rather than spandex, and cinched it with shock cord

I'm curious if you've tried this on non CDT? I like my clew suspension but if I could just add some nylon ripstop to the ends of my SLD UQ and a simple way to cinch it that would be much preferred! I move around a bit when I sleep, my UQ stays fairly well but I still get some shifting and wake up chilly occasionally. The mess that clews can sometimes become is also not my favorite, would love a tidier solution that's not as heavy as spandex.

So has anyone out there done this with a poncho liner yet? I just picked up a brand new Woodland camo one and I wonder if just slapping some ripstop on the ends and cinching it with shock cord wouldn't make a great Light Summer quilt.

no, but it should work on any quilt, or blanket

    Let's unpack that a little.
It will work, but it might not be ideal on narrower quilts that are designed to hang at an angle.

I have a CDT that I have seam ripped, put in the faux baffles and double stuffed. Now I'm looking for the best suspension for it. I have some nylon and shock cord at home and am intrigued with this idea. Is it attached to your hammock with the shock cord? Did you use Jellyfish's measurement of 87.5% of the hammock length?

This is a good discussion, although I am less likely to add spandex due to it's weight. What is the weight of that stretch mesh? Is that 2.8oz per square yard?

When I think of some stretchy material at both ends, my thought goes to how that could change an underquilt into a wearable piece of gear. Now, I am not sure if it's feasible, but could each of the stretchy ends be wrist or arm cuffs, and the quilt wraps around the body somehow? Could this stretchy material be the way to make a UQ function as a down jacket?
